Our Nation was conceived on the basis that mankind is selfish and corrupt. Therefore, we form “factions” of special interest groups that tussle for advantage. The role of government, therefore, is to set the rules for the tussling and basically stay out of the way. Government stays minimized and the people stay free.
Currently, however, the Government sees itself as the engine of the economy and the decision maker. Thus, instead of tussling with one another, the factions now line up around the block to kiss the asses of Government Officials for benefits. This places too much power in the hands of Government and the people’s liberty is eroded.
Ideologically, the Marxist-Progressive Left base their arguments on the way man “should be”. Obama in one of his speeches to a graduating class ridiculed those who go into business and lauded those who would go into “public service”. Trouble is, with mankind actually being selfish and corrupt, it doesn’t work.
Let us say we have the Marxist idealist putting in his 80 hour weeks at his government job. He is willing to “give his all for the cause”. Then one Friday evening, he looks around and realizes EVERYONE ELSE HAS TAKEN OFF!
Then you discover your boss has just taken credit for and gotten a commendation for the massive Report you did, and he removed your name entirely. You mention it to a colleague, and he warns you that the boss has done this before. The previous staff member confronted the boss, and was arrested and shot for “anti-social behavior”!
Then you call the apartment to talk to the girlfriend and she sounds hesitant and strange. Later on, you find out your boss is screwing her, because you’re never home! That usually will do it for idealism!
You will begin to think “why should I bust my balls when no one else does, especially since we all get the same pay anyway? In a nutshell, this is why Marxism does NOT work! “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” is a fraud. People are corrupt and lazy. With no incentive, you get “from each as little as he can get away with, and to each as much as his political savvy and clout can muster!” There’s never enough!
